Strong financial results are the hallmarks of his career marked by measurable impact: delivering double-digit revenue growth, turning around underperforming markets, and leading successful product launches across more than 10 therapeutic areas. At Apotex, achieving a 15% annual revenue increase, boosted EBITDA by 20% year-on-year, as well as resolved complex regional disputes while strengthening market presence. A strong advocate for people-centric leadership, he reduced turnover from 20% to under 4% by building and mentoring high-performance teams.
Professional Experience
Holding senior roles at Takeda, MSD, Novartis, and MENA Amco, he led large cross-functional teams, advanced distribution and manufacturing partnerships, and established market leadership positions. His expertise spans P&L oversight, S&OP transformation, franchise management, and strategic partnerships, with deep knowledge of MEA and GCC healthcare markets.
Education & Personal
Werner earned a B.Sc. in Animal Genetics from the University of Pretoria. He is fluent in English and Afrikaans, with working knowledge of German.
Outside of work, he is passionate about mentoring emerging leaders, fostering growth cultures, and pursuing personal challenges—including golf (with a proud hole-in-one) and adventurous fishing expeditions, notably in Gabon.
